Submit application to Building Control
Find builders and! or trades
Specify required works and get quotes
Plan your finances & draft budget
Confirm builder's appointment and agree works, price, timescales, retention, payment stages etc
Confirm with written contract or detailed letters;
Check lead-in times for materials and place orders to avoid delays (eg windows, blocks etc)
Check contractor's insurance and notify your home insurers I or take out new policy
Inform neighbours
